The London-born frontman's punk rock image and snarling vocals dominated the early 1990s with a string of hits including Firestarter, Breathe and Smack my Bi**h Up, all of which led to various MTV Video Music Awards, a BRIT Award for Best British Dance Act, and an NME Award for Best Dance Act. His bandmates issued a statement on Twitter calling Flint a "true pioneer, innovator and legend".
